POP
The idea to create this product was formed after we received customer feedback on our "micro" product line - we needed to make our options easier for installation. This initially started as a competition within the R&D team to see who could pitch the best idea. Once it was determined that the design I pitched would proceed, I worked collaboratively with team members to bring this product to launch.
INSPIRATION
Competitors have smaller designs that have minimal reveal, and multiple mounting options. My main source of inspiration was from a product that was about 0.5" in height, and 0.25" in width. It is notably the most popular option on the market, and uses a magnetic mounting feature, making it easy for contractors to install.

IDEATION
This project started as a competition to see who could come up with the best idea. The concept I pitched (shown left in dark grey) was chosen as the winner due to its simplicity and manufacturability. A lens that was already in our product line was used, with simple and sleek exposed surfaces. Following the competition, a meeting was had with other team members where we discussed how to integrate some of their key features into my design.
PROFILE VIEW
Designed for manufacturing, this small profiles boasts many features. The internal "legs" allow for multiple mounting options, such as a plastic clip, or a magnet to be used. The profile size is used to accommodate universal router bit sizing.
